Shades Ferris Bueller’s Day Off Characters Would Wear

It’s time for another installment of “Famous Frames”, our ongoing series in which we highlight eyewear that iconic characters in film and TV would sport. This week, we’re diving into John Hughes’s 1986 classic, Ferris Bueller’s Day Off. Which character do you align with most, and more importantly, would you sport their shades? After all, the 80’s are back, friends.

Let’s start with the suave, rule breaking rebel himself: Ferris. Whether or not you’re planning to play hooky in the near future, you can channel your inner thrill-seeker and find your own way to seize the day in these sunglasses that are a pretty dead-on match for the pair Matthew Broderick rocks in the film that made him a household name and a teen heartthrob.

Sloane Peterson

Like they say, behind every great man is a great woman, and Sloane Peterson is no exception to that rule. Casually confident, collected under pressure, and always down for a spur-of-the-moment adventure, Sloane’s character traits are epitomized by her choice in simple, cool shades. Ferris may get all the credit for breaking the rules, but how much fun would his rebellious excursions really be without fearless, fun loving Sloane?

Cameron Frye

Every nonchalant rebel needs a reality check from time to time, and in Ferris Bueller’s Day Off that reality check is personified by Cameron Frye. Someone in the group has to shoulder the burden that comes with all that rule breaking, after all. But don’t be mistaken, Cameron has a lot more going for him than a healthy moral compass and fear of authority. It turns out that this affable goof just needed a little help escaping his prison of fear and stress. Channel your quirky-yet-complex side with these Camerson-esque shades.

Principal Roone

We can’t discuss Ferris Bueller’s Day Off without mentioning the antagonist of an era. Principal Rooney gets a bad rap because he is the antithesis to Ferris’s boisterous personality and carefree approach to life. However, when it really comes down to it, Rooney was simply a man trying to do his job who got duped in his many attempts at catching a highschooler in a lie. Poor Principal Rooney. But at least he had some pretty awesome flip-up sunglasses. If Rooney is still Dean of Students at Shermer High School today, we think he’d be sporting these updated clip-on shades that can accommodate prescriptions. Though let’s be honest, he wouldn’t be rocking the robins egg blue or daisy yellow color options.
